Children love coming to Waunifor whether for a summer holiday, weekend break, family gathering or just a visit. The history of the estate dates back hundreds of years and so generations of children have explored the nooks and crannies of the grounds, made dens in the rhododendron bushes, played poo sticks in the small stream and collected conkers and acorns from the majestic trees.
The play area is fenced off and can provide hours of fun with a swing, slide and see-saw. There is also an additional area with wooden framed swings and monkey ladder for your children to play on. Your youngsters will thoroughly enjoy running around in the fresh air and discovering the many interesting features designed to delight children. We are quite secluded and situated along a very quiet rural lane so safe from the hurly burly of a busy road or town but please remember to supervise children at all times.
We have a pottery studio on site and can arrange a pottery workshop (throwing on the wheel) or craft activities such as jewellery making, mosaics, card making or bead making for older children.
We have several cots which can be borrowed at no extra charge along with 3 high chairs.
On a sunny day you are likely to want to visit the beautiful unspoilt beaches of Cardigan Bay and enjoy building sandcastles, swimming in the sea and eating ice-creams from the local cafes (the photo at the top of this page was taken during February half term!). Most beaches have car parks, toilet facilities, shops and cafes very nearby and rarely get crowded even in the height of summer.
There are also many local attractions such as the New Quay Honey Farm, Felinwyt Rainforest Centre or Henllan Steam Railway. Experience handling owls and birds of prey at nearby Rhos, panning for gold at the Dolaucothi gold mines, discovering how our ancestors lived in Iron Age times at Castell Henllys. On a rainy day visit the West Wales Museum of Childhood or the National Woollen Museum or the chocolate factory near Carmarthen. In Carmarthen there is a newly opened tenpin bowling alley, plus Laserquest and also a large swimming pool and leisure centre. The closest cinema is Vue in Carmarthen which has 10 screens and digital sound.
Just a few miles up the road in Llanybydder there is an indoor play centre called Little M'zzz suitable for young children along with a cafe for mums and dads to sit and relax it. Little M'zzz also has a dedicated sensory room exclusively for babies and children with special needs.
